They may be miniscule, but Moschino's dresses-as-hot-air-balloons display is quickly rocketing the Meatpacking District boutique into art installation territory. In the past, we've seen everything from aliens to robber reindeer, and yet this is so tame.
The details on the little balloons are so fine, however, that Moschino can't be said to have slacked on the display. With each of their windows, Moschino seeks to stretch our imaginations into flights of whimsy, going beyond the mere showcasing of merchandise. The day they invite an artist to collaborate on a window, which could be sooner rather than later, is the day that their extra window on West 14th Street becomes a de facto mini gallery.
