Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
CHELSEA—Next Thursday, February 19, Housing Works hosts the first installation of its new monthly "editor's choice" party, and the editor happens to be our very own Leslie Price. We'll let them describe how it works: "Once a month, a prominent fashion editor will choose a fashion theme and serve as the host of a party and sale dedicated to that theme. And it’s all for a good cause: All Housing Works profits go toward Housing Works’ services for homeless and low-income people living with AIDS." The theme this time: Party attire. Stop by 143 17th Street between 6pm and 9pm to shop party gear (like this sequined Theory mini and the sparkly ensembles above) at steep discounts. It'll be just like reading Racked, only live. NOLITA— Don't be alarmed by the "Store For Rent" sign on the front of Alice + Olivia at 219 Mott Street. Unlike some of its less fortunate neighbors, the shop isn't closing—it's just outgrown the space. A salesperson at the store informed us that they'd like to stay in the area, but they need something that's about 1100 square feet, or 500 square feet larger than their current location. The search could take four to six months, though, so that "For Rent" is almost premature. [RackedWire]
