Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

MIDTOWN WEST—The Vie Society highly recommends Eugenia Kim's sample sale on 36th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues. "Merch is bountiful and 60-80% off. A plethora of uber-helpful staff guide you among shapes and sizes, demonstrating the correct ways hats should be worn (harder than you think). They've got warm winter beanies, Gossip Girl berets (literally, the show used EK's), fedoras galore and a small but complete selection of accessories (belts, headbands, etc)," she writes. [TVS]

FLATIRON DISTRICT—Embattled discounter Filene's Basement is leaving its Sixth Avenue location, according to Crain's. This news comes at the end of a rough year for Filene's, which was bought by Sym's after filing Chapter 11. Crain's reports that that chain could not renegotiate its lease on its store between 18th and 19th Streets, meaning that this year's annual Running of the Brides stunt will have to take place at the Union Square location.
