Rei Kawakubo Gets on the Barbie Bandwagon

Christian Louboutin's first Barbie finally came up for sale last week and is already sold out on Net-a-Porter, and this week another high-fashion Barbie collab hits stores with Rei Kawakubo's doll. The Comme des Garçons Barbie isn't in architectural black or anything postmodern or avant garde. She's in a pretty sleeveless silk dress with a full, asymmetrical skirt printed in the photo-style print graphic of Kawakubo's Jingle Flowers line.

The Jingle Flowers graphic is CdG's holiday print and is all over the current collection, including on wallets, tees, perfume, chairs, etc. According to Collette, there're even Jingle Flowers snowballs.

Barbie has so far done well for Kawakubo. She launched in Japan last week and sold out right away. As of this week Rei's Barbie will be moving out to all the other Comme des Garçons stores.
