Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
This window at Clifford Michael stopped us in our tracks, even though the store was closed. "Reversible mink rainwear?" we said. We didn't know there was a market for reversible mink rainwear. But apparently that market exists, and it lives, unsurprisingly, on the Upper East Side.
Clifford Michael has a website, as we suppose one must these days, but they adamantly do not sell anything online or over the phone. They cater to an old-school style of shopper who wants to have their clothes and furs made to order from a brick-and-mortar store, preferably one in the neighborhood of Park Avenue and 60th. They also deal in mother-of-the-bride gowns and "well suited" custom suits for women and men.
