Gourmet grocery store Union Market opened yesterday on Court Street between DeGraw and Douglass, and it's already getting a warm welcome from locals. The folks behind the market, which also has two outposts in Park Slope, really know what they're doing. Carroll Gardens isn't lacking in food options, but the shop is rife with perks that set it apart. There's a dry-aging case in their meat section, they get fresh fish delivered every day of the week, and their produce crates included vegetables we can't even name. The biggest difference between this place and the rest of the neighborhood, though, is the schedule: It's open till 10pm every night of the week. In an area where it's tough to find fresh vegetables after 7 on a Sunday, this is going to make a lot of people's weekends wind down just a little bit more gently.
