Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Lisa Perry just might be the coolest store on Madison Avenue. Sure, that's a bold statement, but we are certain that the corner of Madison and 76th has never looked so chic. Not that we're surprised, exactly: Leave it to the queen of mod to transform a former Citibank into a retro-fashion paradise. Perry works with clean white floors and walls—a color scheme that could make any other space look empty (or even washed out), but somehow makes a perfect fit for the playful colors and designs of her fall collection. Vibrant luggage and purses adorn some very 1960's furniture, while bold dresses and separates are arranged neatly on racks.

The home line is in full force, with the decorative plates and silverware (as well as amazing bed sets) on display, just adjacent to the kid's line—you know, in case your toddler needs a super-cute leather jacket to wear over her frock. The oversized pencils and cheeseburger on the floor add a sense of playfulness and humor, which is signature Lisa Perry (and maybe just what shoppers need instead of more crystal snowflakes).

Perry also manipulated the former teller's areas (glass walls and glass doors) into a studio, allowing the customers to see what goes on in the office. A seating area in the very back of the room is complemented by a bookshelf filled with (of course) photo books of Richard Avedon and Balenciaga. By far, the best touch is the art hanging from the walls—prints of icons (e.g. Twiggy), and even an authentic Bert Stern photograph. And just in case you're thinking that the mod colors might be too daring this season, the smiling, pretty-in-pink salesgirls are more than happy to prove you wrong.—Phillip Picardi
