Roland Mouret, patron saint of body-hugging dresses with fashion cred, signed on for a limited-edition collection with Net-a-Porter of colorful minidresses that's on sale as of right now. The line, called RM by Roland Mouret Rainbow Project has seven dresses in seven colors. Some dresses come in two colors, and they range in price from $1495 for the cream dress on the left to $3,070 for the one-shouldred teal "Isa" dress. The Isa dress has a detachable mini skirt that can be worn by itself. Genius.
Mouret doesn't normally do minidresses, as he tends to go for a subtler, secretary-length silhouette. But Net-a-Porter founder and chairman Natalie Massenet requested them specifically, telling the designer that the site has a lot of clients who want to show their legs. Mouret was game, saying that he "wanted to do something really fresh with bright colors for cruise. This collection is for young girls. It’s easy to wear and to take from daytime into cocktail hour."
Mouret has also come out with a high-end version of Spanx. The body-sculpting foundation garment comes in nude power mesh and is based on the silhouette of Mouret's famously vampy Galaxy dress. It's $475, and Mouret says it was designed to be sexy in its own right. "I took a very sensual approach: You’ll never look like you’re struggling into and out of it," he said.
