Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

While we were investigating the rise of Union Market, we stumbled on another brand-new Cobble Hill business: Papel, which just opened at 225 Court Street in the former home of Ali Kat. The shop carries lovely, cheerful paper goods from brands that you might recognize if you've ever planned a wedding or shopped for hipster thank-you notes—letterpress-and-more companies like Snow & Graham and Hello Lucky.

Within a week or two, the owners plan to add customizable invitations to the current stock of notecards and wrapping paper. Prices should range from $2.50 to $15 an invitation, which is a wide and entirely reasonable scale. As soon as that happens, we suspect the shop will become very popular with recently-engaged neighborhood nesters. In the meantime, do enjoy the patterns in the slideshow above—something about being exposed to all those pretty papers has briefly turned us into Design*Sponge.
