Collabs: The Olsens' Olsenboye for J.C. Penney

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Nylon got its hands on a preview of Olseboye, the new Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen fashion line for J.C. Penney that was being sold out of cupcake trucks this summer. Limited previews of the collection hit 50 stores in November, but the roll-out begins in earnest in February.

The line is a far cry from the Olsens' other lines, Elizabeth & James and The Row. It's inspired by New York, but we see more New Yorkers running around looking like look books from the Olsens' other lines than looking like the Olsens did in 1992. The line is really young, but it's also really cheap, which is never a bad thing. Nothing is over $50, and for that price and the dresses, skirts and jackets are looking pretty good to us. There have been a ton of celebrity/designer collaborations over the past year. What do you think of this one?
