After yesterday's not-so-private friends & family day, Calypso St. Barth sale opened to the public this morning. Fret not, shoppers, they are replenishing the stock throughout each day of the sale, which is offering up to 80% off clothing and accessories. The prices are very budget-friendly and shoppers were stocking up, either for warmer weather to come or an upcoming winter vacation (overheard on the shopping floor from a boyfriend: "That's way too much for Miami!").
The clothing is organized by price point—from $19 to $199—so let's break it down by price. For $19, we found a lovely lace accented button-front tunic by Woo, plus slip dresses and Matta ruffle-sleeve tops in punchy colors. $29 can buy sexy beachy tops, ruffle sleeve wrap dresses and flowy Cinderella skirts. In the $49 racks, we spotted silky Solana city shorts, the Rhianna tunic shirt, jersey wrap Pila dresses and a pretty Patience silk tank with rosettes on the neckline. The $69 racks are very tempting, from the girly Dota shift dresses with the rosette collar in silver grey, rose and blue to a beautiful Moroccan-inspired tunic to the sexy strapless (and oddly named) Iowa mini dress.
For a bigger budget, $99 racks hold the sweaters (chunky knit alpaca blend wraps by New Scotland and soft pastel lightweight cardigans and sweaters, among others), the super sexy and fun Gatsby fringed and lace accented flapper dress, and more. The $190 rack includes outerwear: Faux fur cropped jackets by Hyde and a cream leather zip motorcycle jacket by Piper & Forest.
There are a few sample racks in the back with prices ranging from a mind-blowing $10 to $40, but alas, most of the $10 samples are gone. There are still some finds in the $30 rack, but everything is being ravaged as we speak and all the samples are out on the floor, so work quickly. Also, check the item thoroughly and make sure the zippers work. The shoes are located on the left and range from $19 for plain leather black or white flip flops to $199 for suede boots. The best buy are the python Monica thong sandals in fuschia, sea green or silver grey for $29. All leather bags are $99, including a beautiful python clasp clutch and grey suede hobos. Scarves are $99. The fragrances are also marked to $39.
The sale was getting crowded as of this morning and there was a massive line for the communal dressing room. Sizes are random and definitely depend on the style—also, the Hudson Jeans are all gone. Per the usual 260 Fifth procedure, there is a coat and bag check at the front. Cash and credit are accepted and your purchases are packed nicely into an actual Calypso St. Barth shopping bag, as opposed to an unmarked brown bag. Small detail, but much appreciated.
