Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Just like the ladies, a horde of gentlemen waited faithfully outside of the men's Rag & Bone sample sale. While the women's store was quite crowded, thus justifying the line outside, the men's store was quite spacious. We still don't know why the men's line was kept at a standstill, but all was forgotten once we entered the very comfortable and warm sale inside.
First stop: Wool coats ($280), which looked great on the cute and stylish young men we saw trying them on. Popular styles included a hooded field coat with elbow patches in light gray and a gorgeous ash wool Covert coat. A table in the front of the store is well-stocked with men's sweaters ($100)—the cashmere hooded cardie and a cable knit suede lined zip front sweater caught our eye. As for jeans ($80), they're available in sizes 28 to 36, but the stock in each size is limited.
Unlike women, men don't get their own further discounted sample rack. All men's samples are mixed in to the main stock and are priced according to the chart. They do have better luck with shoe selection ($100 a pair), though, from suede sneakers to lace-up deck-shoe-style ankle boots, and they get their own fitting area.
The restocking situation is the same as for womenswear: They will only restock in small amounts once a day, not throughout the day. It's possible that they may also re-organize the samples into their own further discounted racks, but no confirmation on that yet.
