Above the Fray: Stripped-Down Prices at Hanky Panky

The much-anticipated Hanky Panky sale kicked off today with heavy markdowns and special deals on ample stock of lovely underthings. This sale is great for stocking up on your annual undergarments collection, as well as picking up some budget-friendly stocking stuffers.

Let's start with the signature super-comfy-yet-so-pretty thongs, available in a rainbow of colors and various styles (like the Original and Low Rise) and marked down to an eye-popping $10 each (retail prices start at $18 for the solid colors). If you buy 12, you get one free. Staffers behind the tables will take orders from shoppers, who will then pick up their items near checkout. At mid-day, we found this system very orderlym without any waits, but we're wondering how it'll be during the peak hours.

All other items are organized by type and then size. Located in clearly marked bins in the middle of the room is an assortment of bras/bralettes ($10 to $15 each, retail starts around $40+) and bottoms ($10 for boycut, bikini, g-strings and more)—all in lacy, candy-colored solids and whimsically patterned confections. Also definitely check out the sleepwear—from sexy, yet girly babydolls to comfy PJ tops and pants—ranging from $5 to $25.

Be sure to look out for specials, like the fuschia/purple ombre lace camis, marked down to $5. There will be daily specials running through the end of the week. For the Tuesday Special, buy three $15 signature lace camis (including short sleeve lacy tops) and get one free. Inside sources say that each daily special will be more and more frenzy-inducing as the week progresses. There are also Benefit "Overnighter" kits, containing a thong and four Benefit products on sale for $15 (marked down from $38), that make fun gifts.

Thankfully, there is a closed off fitting area available, albeit a communal one, and all items are allowed in, except g-strings, for obvious reasons. One major rule—all bottoms must be tried on over your existing underwear, so please don't be gross, ladies. There is a coat and bag check, so pack light. Cash and credit are both accepted.
