Isaac Mizrahi is coming out as a kind of cheesecake Renaissance man with his pan-disciplinary new collection for QVC, which runs the gamut from handbags to tea pots, coats and cheesecake. Seriously, cheesecake. And it's not just cheesecake, it's tartan cheesecake with a chocolate-cookie crust. Mizrahi says he did "1,000 tastings" when working on the cheesecake, along with the cookies and banana nut loaf in his collection. "I have been doing a TV show with a lot of cooking segments, working with Lidia Bastianich and Mario Batali," Mizrahi said. "It has made me quite good at tasting food." We are also quite good at tasting food and think Mizrahi should put his cheesecake where our mouth is.
The collection will be available December 4, and the first volley will be holiday themed. If it seems a bit scattershot, with the clothes and the food and the bedding and the plates, Mizrahi says that for him the creative process is always the same, regardless of what he's creating. "I believe in my product," he told WWD. "If I do plates, if I do bedding, which I did, if I render cookies, I do it in the same way that I think about a couture dress."
