Sonia Rykiel's 70-piece lingerie collection for H&M is set for a big, fancy launch party at the Grand Palais in Paris tomorrow, and it will roll out in stores for the rest of us this Saturday. The collection will be sold in 1,500 H&M stores as well as at Rykiel boutiques.
The collaboration line is designed to be "Parisian, feminine and playful," with fifties-style pink satin, crystals and flower appliques. Nipple rosettes may be flirty and coquettish, but we're pretty sure those would show up under a ski jacket, so that particular bra is probably a wear-at-home look. There are also some sportier, more modern looks in striped microfiber. We really want to like this collection, but that model really doesn't seem to be having any fun at all. The last time we saw that expression on a girl in her underwear, our college roommate had just discovered that we'd finished the milk and put the empty carton back in the fridge.
In addition to the requisite bras and panties, the collection includes "Hollywood homewear," which is Playboy Mansion-style loungewear like black and pink chiffon kimono, black velour pajamas, and a one-sleeve black nightgown that WWD says can also be worn as eveningwear. There will also be headbands and hair accessories Prices start at $12 for a thong, $30 for bras and around $114 for the "homewear" items.
