Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The line outside Clothingline's J.Crew sale looks intimidating, but a high-level Racked operative assures us that it moves quickly. The real hold-up is the coat check, but once people are in, they just grab and go—probably because Clothingline's dressing rooms are closed. It can't hurt that the line-waiters are old hands: One told our correspondent that this is her fourth J.Crew sample sale. If you go, expect to wait outside for about 15 minutes, and expect to fight for the shoes, which seem to be the reason so many people turned out.
