Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Black Friday is to shopping what New Year's Eve is to drinking: Dismiss it as amateur night if you want, but you still can't avoid it. Black Friday at Woodbury Commons, by extension, is New Year's Eve in Times Square: Quite possibly a terrible idea, but attractive to anyone who isn't interested in doing things halfway. Both Madison Avenue Spy and Fashion Prospectress just published posts aimed at helping those hardy souls who'd like to take advantage of this weekend's sales upstate.

Mad Spy's advice: Work the pre-sale. She found Bottega Veneta bags at up to 50% off the outlet price (clothes and shoes up to 60%), a giant shipment of size seven Giuseppi Zanotti heels for $99 and $150, and another 40% off Dolce & Gabbana from fall/winter '08. Prada won't offer any holiday discount, but their sample sale rack will be out in full force on Saturday. As for FP, she's given us a list of tips for dealing with Woodbury crowds, including an injunction to skip the VIP coupons. Her best discovery, at least for the small-boned among us: Catherine Malandrino's petite section is now 95% off.
