Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Maybe you spotted it at the corner of those fire photos from earlier this afternoon: The older Victoria's Secret location, at 565 Broadway and Prince, has been closed down and covered in magenta plywood. Soon enough, it will reemerge as Pink, VS's younger line. We're going to go ahead and judge this a positive development. The spot obviously couldn't stay as it was, what with a bigger, newer, sexier Victoria's Secret—one that doesn't carry the faint lingering whiff of cheap perfume and cigarette smoke, like it's someone's sad mistress, which is exactly what you don't want your lingerie to smell like, not that this drove us crazy every time we entered the former location for the past year—now open just a few blocks up Broadway.
