South Brooklyn's tragic Two-Buck Chuck shortage won't be alleviated anytime soon, but we've got good news for locals who still feel betrayed that the Atlantic Avenue Trader Joe's doesn't have a wine shop. The oenophiles behind Carroll Gardens' Smith & Vine are opening a second, larger location at 138 Court Street, just next door to TJ's on the Boerum Hill side. The shop, to be called the Brooklyn Wine Exchange, is the latest edition to a local empire that includes beloved cheese store Stinky Brooklyn and bar the Jakewalk. If it's anything like Smith & Vine, it'll match Trader Joe's in friendliness, if not prices, and what the salespeople are lacking in Hawaiian-print shirts they'll make it up in expertise.
