Street Scenes MPW: Meg on Centre Street

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

This week, we're doing Street Scenes a little differently. Each shot was selected by Racked commenter MPW, who spent a day last week roaming the city with photographer Daniel Krieger. Today's subject is Meg, shot on Centre Street between Broome and Grand. Feel free to vote on whether you like or dislike her outfit below. Your choices are 'Perfection!,' 'So close,' 'I feel strangely ambivalent about it,' or 'Who did this to you?'

Meg is wearing a Theory coat, an Alexander Wang t-shirt, J Brand jeans, and a Barneys Co-Op sweater. Her shoes are from Urban Outfitters, but she doesn't remember where she bought her bag (it's from Chicago). Her favorite store is Me&Ro.

MPW says: I really liked Meg's minimalist take on the classic American outfit of jeans, a white t-shirt, and a leather jacket. I'm sure that some of you will say that her outfit is boring, but I think it's a great casual daytime look. It may be simple, but it's also effortless and cool. The soft brown leather jacket is a refreshing departure from the standard black motorcycle jacket, and I appreciate the fact that she pairs designer pieces with shoes from Urban Outfitters. I would definitely wear this look—maybe adding some red lipstick or a bold necklace—but I think Meg looks great as she is.

I'd like to thank Izzy Grinspan and Daniel Krieger for letting me work on Street Scenes this week. I had a lot of fun tagging along with Daniel, but I learned that his job is certainly not as easy as it looks!
