RackedWire: Barneys Pairs with Timex on a Neon Tattoo Watch; ABC's Live Meditation Window Display

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

EVERYWHERE—Barneys has been on a Timex kick for a while, but their latest effort transcends simple '80s nostalgia. The store tapped tattoo artist JK5, who works at Saved Tattoo in Williamsburg and has previously collaborated with Converse, to decorate the face of a classic Timex 80. The watch comes etched with barely-readable words and phrases like "Barneys," "Illuminate," and "JK5" in neon pink and blue. It costs $85, and it will be available at Barneys in time for the holidays. [Racked Inbox]

FLATIRON DISTRICT—This Friday and Saturday, ABC Carpet & Home graciously allows members of meditation group the Interdependence Project to achieve inner peace in their storefront windows. Both days, the meditators will sit on display to "illuminate the essence of meditation and build awareness about the value of meditation within Western culture, politics and psychology" (or so says the press release). We suspect this translates to "Watch some people breathe deliberately, then go buy a $5000 rug," but if you're interested, they're offering meditation classes at noon, 2pm, 4pm and 5:30pm. RSVP at the ABC website; seating is limited. [Racked Inbox]
