Photos courtesy of Zero + Maria CornejoLast week we mentioned a forthcoming menswear collection from Zero + Maria Cornejo—yesterday WWD confirmed the news and today we received the official press release. So, it's true: find a spring capsule collection exclusively at the brand's boutiques and Project No. 8 starting January 15, 2010. A full collection for the upcoming fall season will be wholesaled (Simon Doonan is a fan—we wouldn't be surprised if some pieces creep into Barneys stores).
The collection distills the essence of Maria Cornejo’s approach to design into a few key pieces for men. Classic Zero + Maria Cornejo shapes serve as the backbone to this collection?Signature details are carried throughout; pockets inset into the seam, asymmetrical side flapovers, mandarin collars and zipper closures.Fabrics are utilitarian yet structured with ease. Collared shirts are in soft cottons - poplin or summer plaid?Lines are skewed and off kilter. Shirts are strictly opposite; one side slim and the other with double the volume. All the traditional Zero elements get translated for men.
Oooo—summer plaid! But, what about those photo-prints?
