In the Window: Bergdorf's Rockin' New Windows

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We're starting to think Bergdorf Goodman is just teasing us and those "Work in progress" covers on the holiday windows are the holiday windows, possibly in homage to Martin Margiela's web site (which is designed to look like it's constantly under construction). But there's a cool, musical theme happening in the south-facing windows, starting, fantastically, with a Jem and the Holograms-looking trio in bright pink Michael Kors, Pologeorgis and Emilio Pucci. Between this and the Louis Vuitton windows across Fifth Avenue, is hot pink the big holiday color? We certainly don't mind if fashion decides to indulge in a Jem moment for the next couple months.

Next door to the Jem rockers, a holiday torch singer is holding her own in a tiered, sequined Marchesa gown and a fantastic hat, and managing to outshine the chandelier and her accompanist, even though he's wearing J. Mendel and has a wolf head. A chic marching band brings up the rear in Alice + Olivia, Cynthia Rowley, Gryson, Haute Hippie, Marc by Marc Jacobs and 3.1 Philip Lim. We're digging their silver sequins and the embellished stripes running up the outside seams of their leggings.
