Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Do you know Victoria's Secret? Shhh?listen closely and we'll tell you. Ready? Victoria's Secret is that she wears panties. So many in fact, that they've had to expand their Soho store presence by merging the old Lounge and Eastern Mountain Sports locations on Broadway to make way for her big be-thonged booty.
It's only been open for couple days, but already the uber-fuchsia store is attracting the curious and plain bored, as we witnessed last night when practically everyone who passed by it walked in. Similar to the new Banana Republic concept shop (also recently opened on Broadway), the layout of this VS is focused on zones, each arranged like the ultimate closet if your idea of an ultimate closet is every color and cut of lace panties known to man (or woman, rather).
In keeping with the fancy boudoir interior, you'll find more of Victoria's Secret delicate and pricey lingerie from the "Designer Collection." We spotted an animal print silk nightie from Dolce & Gabbana for just under $200; perhaps the perfect gift for the label-loving woman in your life.
And for the men?if they aren't gazing into the vitrines showcasing thongs, they can have a seat amongst the variety of pink and white silken chairs, all with bow pillows to complete the "get me out of here" misery. Sit in the exaggerated wingbacks if you really don't want to see what's going on or if you're just generally embarrassed.
