As we reached the fourth floor Shoshanna and Anlo sample sale offering up to 75% off, we had no idea what we were in for. Frankly, we're still a bit traumatized. After a 15 minute wait, we entered and were greeted by a mob scene of women feverishly grabbing at clothing and then shamelessly disrobing. We're still trying to wash the images of countless thongs and bare behinds, not to mention a pair of boobs (you know who you are), out of our minds.
Apparently, the following discounts had the ladies forget all sense and modesty. For Shoshanna fall 2009, prices start at $65 for silk tops and go up to $150 for dresses (party and day) and coats. For those looking for deeper discounts, check out the racks of $50 and $35 items featuring warmer weather dresses and dress pants. There were also bargain bins of sweaters lining the floor starting at $20 (we spotted a couple sleeveless turtleneck pink cashmere sweaters in there) to $75 for a chunky knit purple and gray sweater vest. Swimwear starts with the bargain bins of $5 for separates (good luck finding a matching set) and $20 for one-pieces up to $65 for current and plastic covered pieces on the racks.
There were also two Anlo racks with separates and regular jeans for $65 and sample jeans for $20. The washes skewed on the darker range of the spectrum and the styles featured a fair amount of skinny cropped. The sizes are varied and see photos for the full Anlo pricing list.
Just a few notes—as evidenced, there are no designated dressing rooms, so please dress to not undress when trying on clothing. Men are also not allowed into the sale for obvious reasons. They accept cash and cards (no Discover). The sale was quite crowded around noon, so if you go, be prepared, physically and mentally, for what you may encounter.
