The Tibi sample sale offering up to 75% off fall 2009 items and samples is a bit off the beaten track, but that didn't deter the crowds of well dressed devotees shopping inside. The prices aren't worthy of the bargain bin, but there are still steep discounts to be had, especially for fans of the line's vibrant prints and elegant styles.
For the samples, head toward the back of the sale where we spotted a beautiful cream draped coat with gold lined buttons for $100 (the non-sample was up front for $295) and flirty skirts in gold, black lace and more for around $60 each. For regular Fall 2009 items, highlights include a rack of patterned and embellished fall coats running from $150 to $295. The dresses start at $100 and go up to $200+. We loved a black sleeveless dress with vintage inspired gold and stone beading on the front. Definitely also peruse the evening rack featuring sexy and elegant jewel toned and pretty patterned floor length gowns around $175 each. Tops start around $60 for a spaghetti strap grey with floral pattern to around $145 for a long sleeved Jackie O-esque beaded tunic.
The shoes and boots are definitely worth checking out. Jewel toned flats are $50 and black and brown high medium chunky heel boots are $70. There are various sizes, but limited stock. There are also a few couple Rafe for Tibi woven clutches for $150 left and various summery totes for $100.
After the flashing incidents at Shoshanna, it was refreshing to see a screened off dressing area for shoppers. Helpful staffers enlarged the dressing area due to high demand, but there was still a line about 15 deep waiting to try on clothing around 1pm. We didn't spot any housewares, so not sure if it's all sold out or just not available. All stock is out on the floor and cash and credit are accepted.
