We think of American Eagle as a place to buy inexpensive and nonthreatening Fair Isle sweaters, but the hulk currently under development in Times Square is a completely different animal. Lost City points out that the creature has donned a thick black cloak, possibly out of an adolescent need to shield its awkward body from the cruel eyes of the world. When the store opens on November 19, it will be a carnival of screens and gimmicks, including a "Denim Library", a "Bra Conservatory", and a 25-story interactive LED sign onto which willing shoppers can broadcast their photos. For now, though, it's simply a tower of darkness looming over Broadway.
