With Halloween a day away, Oak kicked off its appropriately-named "Skeletons in the Closet" sale offering 60% off past season's womenswear, menswear and shoes. Oak aficionados will rejoice as the sale is full of the cutting edge designer labels, but since it's Oak, best not to expect bargain bin prices. Still, if budget permits, 60% off is a good discount. The womenswear dominates, so let's start there.
Labels on sale include Acne, Filippa K, Y3 and Rachel Comey, all in a seasonally dark and stormy color palette. On the lower end, slouchy punk rock tanks and vintage-feel tees ranged from $23.20 for a tank from Erin Wasson X RVCA to $94.40 for a more embellished cross neck number from Monrow. We also spotted Acne's graffiti lettered sexy back draped "Dressy Print DF" dress for $130. A Filippa K black halter dress is a fun LBD staple for $130. On the higher end, we loved the chunky grey slouchy knit vest from VPL for $215.20 and the black Kimono jacket by Scout for $219.20.
The shoes are a definite must-see. The goods include Oak black elastic strap heels for $88, Jeffrey Campbell suede black booties at $69.60, Mogil Dodge Cone Croc Black heels are $126 and Pour le Victoire hot strappy platforms are $143.60 (we spotted the same styles at Loehman's over the summer for around $80-ish, but if you missed that train, go for it).
Ladies won't be able to find any denim at this sale, but there's a good selection available for men—at least L-train–riding trustafarian men. We're talking skinny Diesels for $72, grey and black jeans by Raf by Raf Simmons for $100, and Surface to Air high-waisted acid washed straight legs (how many questionable 80's trends can fit into just one pair of jeans??) for $79.20. The Opening Ceremony pieces are also all found in the men's section. Highlights include short-sleeved, vertical-striped buttonddowns marked to $87.60 and a navy blue "Anorak in a Sack" (the hipster windbreaker) at $181.60. We also spotted Oak's eponymous label (button downs for $65.60), Sophomore, and Acne (black pants accented with a blue ribbon belt for $119.20). Men should definitely check out the shoes, too. Kicks range from Raf by Raf Simmons low sneakers at $107.20 to Y3 pewter high tops for $159.20. By Hudson dress shoes range are $86 for shoes and $104 for boots.
The sale is located downstairs in a designated back section. Sizes are random and limited, and everything is out on the floor. There is one dressing room downstairs and four more upstairs. Discounts are not marked, so calculate 60% off the regular price (in some cases, you may also need to ask the friendly, helpful sales staffers.) As of lunchtime, it was starting to get busier, so head over soon or you'll be left with just the skeletons.
