So why hasn't the Gucci ICON-Temporary store opened yet on Crosby Street when today was the original projected debut date? Well, we have two theories:
1: Today is not so much the day it opens as the day that WWD gets to sneak behind the brown paper covering every inch of the windows for a first glimpse, to get everyone all riled up. We ran across this first inside image of the pop-up on their Facebook page, and it's got us wondering where the Ronson-designed boat shoes sit?since they definitely aren't in that picture.
2: Saying it was opening today means that actually they'll just be throwing a party in it tonight, before making it more open (to the public) tomorrow. Judging by all those crowd barriers ready to go along the sidewalks in our pictures from earlier today, this is probably what is happening. Keep your eyes open for Mark Ronson and Mary J Blige down in Soho tonight.
Whatever day they eventually let shoppers in, do remember to download the new Gucci iPhone app to take advantage of the store-specific playlist and exclusive photos of the collab. At least these things are free, whereas the shoes will set you back $500+.
