Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

After numerous phone calls, internet searches, store hunting, and some rather intense instant message conversations, we have finally found the Pierre Hardy for Gap shoes. Well, sort of, at least. At The Gap on 17th and Fifth Ave, three pairs of Pierre Hardy boots are on a subtle display in the front corner of the store. The platform suede boots range in price, with the grey and copper-colored boots going for $175, and the chocolate brown, shearling-lined number priced at $195. Sizes and quantities are extremely limited: the tan is available in 6.5, 7, and 9, the brown in 9, 9.5, 8, and 6.5, and the grey in 9.5, 9, 7, and 6.5.

The heels on all of the boots have been lowered, which may come as a relief for those who actually need wearable winter boots. Still to come are the shoes in the collection, but the Gap employees informed us we should expect them by the end of the month (year). As far as our boot-stalking is concerned, this Gap is the first location that the Pierre Hardy collection has shown. We eagerly await the next pairs.—Phillip Picardi
