Old Navy Steps Foot Into MePa...With A Pumpkin Patch

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

What are your plans for this Friday? Do they perhaps involve finally scoring a pumpkin to compliment your seasonal doormat? Yea, we didn't think so, but Old Navy sure hopes you'll at least be enticed down to the Meatpacking District to get in the Halloween spirit at their "urban pumpkin patch."

From 9am til 6pm on Friday and 10am to 6pm on Saturday, Old Navy will fill the plaza next to the Hotel Gansevoort and Pastis with pumpkins for the picking, pumpkin decorating, pedi-cab hayrides and even a petting zoo?we're sure the neighbors will just love that. The good news is that the event is free, but all donations (and we're sure picking a pumpkin means a donation) go to the Food Bank of NY. As far as we know, there'll be nothing Old Navy for sale...you've still got to go to the nearest Chelsea store for your $6 "Boo" T-shirts.
