This is Store Sidekicks, an end-of-the-week feature where we profile the fuzzy wuzzy creatures that inhabit shops across the city. If you'd like to nominate your favorite store animal, drop us a line at tips@racked.com.
We can't think of a better way to spend a lazy Sunday than by tucking into brunch in the East Village and chasing it with strolling by the consignment stores on East 9th Street. One of them, which specializes in the topmost luxury brands, is Cadillac's Castle, a well laid-out shop where we've personally turned in the past for consignment.
We look forward to greeting the store's resident pooch and namesake just as much as we anticipate bargains on Chanel, Christian Louboutin and Prada. Cadillac, a lovable mutt who weighs 85 pounds and whose sleek black coat matches some of the best clothes in the store, has presided over the shop since its inception. She's nine-and-a-half now, and still gets excited over new customers.
In fact, Cadillac's puppy eyes even grace the store's business card. When she's alert and watching the activity in the East Village, her big ears perk up and like that she's hard to miss.
So next time you're selling off some impulse buys?preferably with the tags still attached?stop by and say hi to Cadillac. Don't worry?she won't jump on you; she knows how to act around good clothes.
