Above the Fray: The Loden Dager Sample Sale

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The elevator at the Loden Dager sample sale on W 29 between Sixth and Seventh is broken, but walking up the five flights of stairs is well worth your time. Trousers are just $100, and considering the variety of fits and tailoring we saw, that is some money well worth spending, especially given that their heavy fabrics make them an ideal investment for the coming months. Sophisticated vests, done with or without lapels and in patterns and solids, are going for $50, but the real standouts are well-tailored blazers at $150.

Outerwear is also a big feature, with most of the jackets cropped at the waist. All jackets are being sold for $200. Other items of note included denim, button down shirts for $50, polo shirts, and a couple of plain t-shirts. The cashmere—at just $150— was nearly gone when we stopped by this afternoon, but if you act soon, a couple of cardigans may still be available.—Phillip Picardi
