Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
UPPER WEST SIDE—From a tipster, here's an update on the state of the plot at 67th and Broadway that Apple still hasn't confirmed as the location of its newest store: "Some kind of black adhesive polymer covering the glassy triangle up front, solid cube going on at the back." And if there's one thing Apple loves, it's a cube. Rumor has it that the store will open around Thanksgiving, so we ought to get an official confirmation any day now. [Racked Inbox]
SOHO—Uniqlo's heat tech long underwear really brings out the store's marketing creativity. Last year, they gave us a human vending machine in Times Square to promote their long johns; this year, we're getting an in-store ski-off. This Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm, Olympic skier Emily Cook will compete against store customers on the Wii's ski and snowboard game. Beat her, and you'll win a prize from Uniqlo plus games from Namco Bandai. To play, RSVP at www.newyork-tokyo.com/wp/uniqlo. [Racked Inbox]
