Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
While our high-level Racked operative continues to wait outside the Soho Uniqlo, let's take a tour around the planet's other Uniqlos, all of which were swarmed by crazed fans this morning when the Jil Sander collab launched. Paris's brand-new Uniqlo opened its doors for the first time this morning, and the combination of novelty, Jil Sander, and Fashion Week caused utter chaos.
Tweeted Grazia, "Just arrived in Paris and the first thing we see is a massive queue at Uniqlo for the Jil Sander collection! Next stop Balmain." Another Twitterer spotted Sartorialist Scott Schuman in line, meaning we can all start looking forward to some photos of well-dressed Parisian line-waiters. Meanwhile, in London, the racks were picked clean barely two minutes after opening. Granted, that fact comes from Uniqlo itself, but given what we've seen here and in France, we believe it.
