Will someone please remind Ralph Lauren that it is no longer New Years and thus eyeball-searing metallics should be relegated to sale racks? All of the gold in the windows of RL's men's and women's boutiques on Bleecker Street makes us wish for the days of the Olympics again, when displays like this could be viewed as faintly patriotic. Instead, the gold palm tree trunks and glittery sand looks like some kind of harem fever dream. Sorry Ralph, but it's a little ostentatious for 2009.
