Above The Fray: Chaos Rules at In God We Trust

For a frenzied sale experience, In God We Trust on Lafayette Street is the place to be. The tiny boutique is hosting a "preview" of this weekend's sale until 8 o'clock tonight. Most of the merchandise is 40-50% off, and there are a ton of good deals to be had.

Here's how the women's pricing breaks down: Shirts are $80, tees $25. Sweaters and dresses go for $100, with Nomia dresses on the high end at $120. Coats are on sale for $250. A big selection of Hyden Yoo blouses are going for $60. Shorts and soft knit pants are on sale for $40. Gloves displayed in a chest of drawer are down to $80. A few styles of Keller boots are available in a range of sizes 7 and up for $160, and there are other shoes and sandals priced at $50 in baskets under the racks. The biggest deal of the sale by far is the jewelry: All pieces are marked down to either $10 or $20, displayed in separate cases.

For men, the house brand and Hyden Yoo dominate. There is a lot of Hyden Yoo outerwear to be had, with jackets starting at $140. A few styles of plaid and pinstripe In God We Trust button-downs are going for $80, and a couple of Corpus button-downs for $100 were spotted on the racks. If you're looking for something cheaper, sweaters by Rittenhouse are as low as $30.

If you're thinking about dropping by tonight, don't worry about "preview" tickets, as no one was policing the door when we stopped by. But be prepared: The space is very small and there are no dressing rooms, so you will be bumping into your neighbor while trying things on.—Noah Adler
