Barbie's 50th birthday is coming up on the calendar, and Bloomindale's is throwing her a party. From February 11th to the 22nd, the windows of the 59th Street store will be filled with tiny-waisted plastic Mattel dolls; "inside the store, a 242-square-foot Barbie boutique will display Barbie T-shirts, accessories, jewelry, DC Super Hero Barbies, a Barbie Book by Assouline, and the dolls, among other merchandise." And an exhibit of of 120 vintage Barbies, some valued between $25,000 and $27,000, will reside on the third floor of the store. If that's not enough Barbie for you, there will be a Barbie Fashion Week show on the 14th featuring doll designs by DVF and Anna Sui. The cheap seats should bring their opera glasses to that one.
