With so much on sale these days, we often find ourselves wandering around stores doing mental math problems. If a top was 40% off, and then the store took off another 25%, how much is it currently reduced by? (Answer: 45% 55%.) But there's an ethical calculation to make, too: What if the salesperson thinks the top is now 65% off? Do you tell her, or do you just quietly accept the extra discount?
