Saks may be having some financial troubles, but that hasn't stopped the department store from heavily promoting Alexander Wang's spring '09 line, which is available now on their site. Today, they released a video (sadly, not embeddable) where Wang discusses the inspiration behind some of his new pieces. The idea for the dress, above, came from "sleeping in beautiful satin sheets and then running out of the house [dramatic hand gesture] with the sheets wrapped around your tank top." He also discusses the amazing baggy white sweater, which began as a reinterpretation of a beach coverup. The video was filmed in the designer's impressive Tribeca showroom space (note the black leather couch in the background), and is actually pretty interesting to watch. Especially if you're already a Wang fan and can ignore the weirdly blank-faced model posing alongside the designer.
