Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
In case the MoMA Store's current Lomography showcase isn't enough to satisfy your desire for hipster photography, the Lomographic Society themselves will be opening a gallery store on January 27 at 41 West 8th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues.
According to the Lomo website, the store will feature a wall of 35,000 photographs in addition to selling "...the whole range of Lomographic products and services, a wide range of analog photography products, and most exciting of all – the special and limited edition cameras only available at Lomography stores."
This shop will be no doubt be quickly popular with the current Lomographers of New York, but it will also try to recruit new fans by offering weekly workshops, guest speakers and--joy of joys--loaner cameras. Urban Outfitters' monopoly on these plastic cameras has just been broken.
