Now that he's failed in his attempt to open a supermarket called Trader John's mere blocks from the Union Square Trader Joe's, Gristedes owner John Catsimatidis seems to be turning to other, bigger things. The Times notes that he recently loaned $1 million to his own mayoral campaign, suggesting that he's getting serious about running in the Republican primary this fall. Catsimatidis would only say that he's trying to "show everybody I am alive," "everybody" in this case being shorthand for chief challenger Michael Bloomberg.
