Liveblogging the Shows: Jeremy Laing

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

In an effort to make reading Racked as much like being in the tents as humanly possible, we'll be liveblogging the shows all week, from the suspense of waiting in line (will the seats be any good?) to the drama of the runway (will anyone stumble?) to the post-show euphoria. This time around: up-and-comer Jeremy Laing.

9am: Here and checked in, but they're not sending people up yet—still setting up. It's at the Bumble and Bumble showroom in the MePa. Lots of hipsters in non-horribly-uncomfortable-looking shoes.

9:04am: They're giving out pastries and flask-shaped bottles of water from a company called SEI. Pastry report: chocolate-dipped macaroons. Delicious. Love any fashion show that gives you macaroons for breakfast.

9:07am: Okay, I'm in.

9:14am Front row seat reserved for Mickey Boardman of Paper. Don't actually see him yet, though.

9:26am: A woman just walked in wearing those Balenciaga gladiator heels. With a sheer skirt and a hooded sweater. It totally works.

9:34am: The room is slowly starting to fill. I kind of want another macaroon.

9:37am: Macaroon dudes just left! Does that mean it's starting?

9:45am: Starting. Lots of shreds and holes. And I'm standing right next to The Sartorialist.

9:50am: Looks: Sheer black, cross-shaped cut-outs, one sort of accordion-like belt that keeps reappearing. Also sequins, in architectural stripes.

9:56am: A couple styles in a techno, fractal-looking plaid, like preppy and futuristic at the same time. Love one very prim sheath dress with black veil over it.

9:58am: Okay, it's over. Lots of cool, weird ideas here.
