Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
In an effort to make reading Racked as much like being in the tents as humanly possible, we'll be liveblogging the shows all week, from the suspense of waiting in line (will the seats be any good?) to the drama of the runway (will anyone stumble?) to the post-show euphoria. This time around: contemporary womenswear brand Tibi.
7pm: It's freezing in here! Seats are empty, but standing room is already two to three rows deep. Seems like they're letting people in in groups.
7:05pm: Girls in standing room eying the gift bags, which are front-row only. A white curtain just swung aside, revealing the AMEX skybox. Weirdly dramatic.
7:06pm: No celebs yet. Boo.
7:10pm Here we go. Paps taking photos of a girl in the front row, but I can't tell who she is.
7:11pm: OMG Benny Ninja! Wait, maybe that's not him. Nevermind. Overexcited—heard people in the hallway say something about America's Next Top Models in this show.
7:20pm: They're starting!
7:29pm: Er, starting now, rather. Yucky highwaisted white formal pants, bright red lipstick. Love the tasseled belt on the dress Chanel Iman's wearing. Now we're seeing odd jodhpur-like trousers. Not flattering on regular folks.
7:32pm: Playing the Black Kids. Very trendy, if a little late. Nice diversity on the runway here.
7:34: All the pants look very hard to wear. Dresses are better. Primary colors: bright yellow, green, red.
7:35: Definite Asian inspiration here. Loving a floaty green dress with a red belt that just came out. Chanel is looking super hot in all red.
7:40pm: And it's over. They're playing that Black Kids song for the fourth time.
7:44pm: Final thoughts: The clothes weren't totally my bag - lots of wide-leg silk pants. But I liked the saturated primary colors and tassel belts.
