Meatpacking: The plywood covering the site of luxury brand Ports 1961's first New York City store, printed with the claim that the shop is "opening soon," has been mocking us for almost a year. L.A. already has their own Ports 1961 boutique, but New York is going to have to sit tight a bit longer. A Racked operative dropped by 3 Ninth Avenue yesterday afternoon and managed to wedge his camera through the barriers for a few interior shots. It's clear that they've come pretty far since December: the rubble has been cleared and it appears as if they've been shoring up the floors and walls of the building. This is no interior redo; it looks like a ton of construction work on the four-story townhouse is still needed. We hope that the finished product will be as gorgeous as the clothing it will contain.
