We like how Fort Green boutique Thistle & Clover holds open auditions for new talent four times a year: It really demonstrates their commitment to smaller designers. The August round just ended, and owners Rand Niederhoffer and Camilla Gale have officially picked three winners. Jill Davis makes tiny house charms and affixes them to earrings, rings and necklaces. Adha Zelma makes beaded, feathered, vaguely hippie-ish jewelry. And Françoise Olivas designs sweet, sixties-inspired women's clothing. The store owners will also design a bag with a fourth auditioner, Brooklyn Flea regular Jacob's Eye.
