Ralph Lauren Unearths A Bit of Bleecker History

New, 1 comment

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

In addition to some tree-trimming and removal of the security gates and awning at the old L'Uomo space on Bleecker Street, the beginnings of construction on what will be a Ralph Lauren Purple Label store have revealed brightly-colored tilework. Because L'Uomo had been at this address for 25 years, it is possible that this little historic detail was forgotten. Leave it to Ralph Lauren to dig up old Americana.
