Storecasting: Operations Makes It MePa

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Joining one of the many retail Bermuda Triangles of the city, Operations will be opening relatively soon at 50 Ninth Avenue. Situated on the same block with such MePa monsters as Apple and Pop Burger, Operations with nonetheless be the most northerly of the retail residents; it's striding the Chelsea line.

Unlike neighbor newcomer Solstice Sunglasses, Operations is not a chain but does have one other store on Mercer in Soho. According to DNR, the new location will offer "the full range of Operations men’s and women’s wear, as well as complementary brands like Superga sneakers, Nooka watches and New York Hat Co. headwear, as well as vintage watches, belts and money clips." Although DNR says it will be opening this Saturday, our sneak peek begs to differ; they've barely got walls in there.
