With only one more day until Target's four hyped Bullseye Bodegas open around town, they just had to throw a good New York shopping party. Yesterday night at one of the Bodega locations at the corner of West 57th and 6th Avenue, journalists, Target die-hards and the odd celebrity showed up to shop the designer collections before the plebes.
First off, this space in particular is awesome; it's the former Delta Sky 360 lounge, blessed with high ceilings, large windows, and a corner spot near Central Park. Not only will the Bullseye Bodegas be indulging New Yorkers with a little taste of Target, but tourists will undeniably flock here for the novelty, just as they do with the A&F flagship on 5th Avenue.
In any case, last night was all about being inside the Target brand. Waiters served warm cheese shots with mini grilled sandwiches, mini shrimp po' boys, the cutest miniscule BLTs, itty bitty quesadillas and more. To wash it down, the semi- full bar served up a mean watermelon vodka drink in an iconic New York coffee cup. We totally took one to go.
While we didn't spot any of the rumored celebrities expected to show, like Jerry Seinfeld and Vanessa Minnillo, the crowd was way too focused on the products to notice (although we did hear that Michelle Trachtenberg eventually showed). The Sigerson Morrison flats, black velvet booties and Anya Hindmarch clutches were flying off of the wire shelves faster than you could say "Expect More, Pay Less." Judging from the buying frenzy of yesterday evening, we're judging that Friday's opening will see a line rivaling that of the Colette x GAP pop-up, no joke.
