Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
In an effort to make reading Racked as much like being in the tents as humanly possible, we'll be liveblogging the shows all week, from the suspense of waiting in line (will the seats be any good?) to the drama of the runway (will anyone stumble?) to the post-show euphoria. This time around: Nanette Lepore, which we're taking in from the AmEx Skybox as a guest of AmEx Platinum.
11:20am: In the AmEx lounge. Anne Slowey and Josie from Elle are giving a little talk about fashion writing to the card members. Looks a lot like the Mercedes-Benz lounge, but prettier. Crystal chandelier over bar, purple flowers, snakeskin benches. Elle editors are plugging their soon-to-debut reality TV show Stylista.
11:25am: It's so dark in here that the bartender is using a flashlight. Apparently I just missed Spice Girl Mel B, who was listening to Anne Slowely's speech.
11:36am: There are TVs up here as well as a view over the stage. It says "Save the Garment Center" on the curtain. And we're starting. Huge belts, oversize necklaces, rompers.
11:39am: So far, lots of sea-foam green, florals.
11:42am: Ton of silk, pairing florals with stripes. Pretty and very wearable.
11:44am: Beauty report: very strong brows, long loose wavy windblown-looking hair, touch of blush.
11:45am: Very bright colors, including a lot of hot pink. Super girly. Could see all of this on the racks at Barneys.
11:46am: Why do all the models have such dirty-looking hair? Please tell me this is not a trend for spring.
11:47am: And it's over.
11:48am: Designer and her adorable daughter walking the runway in "Save the Garment Center" tees. They really mean business.
